FACTA 2019 Forensic & Clinical Toxicology Association
Sunday 16 - Wednesday 19 June 2019
InterContinental Adelaide, South Australia, AUS.

Dear FACTA Members,

Dr Dimitri Gerostamoulos

We would like to formally invite FACTA members, accompanying people and sponsors to the 10th FACTA Conference to be held in June 16-19, 2019 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Adelaide, South Australia.

As part of this meeting, we have Dr Marc LeBeau from the USA as our plenary speaker. Dr LeBeau is a Senior Scientist at the FBI Laboratory outside of Washington, DC. He has worked as a Forensic Chemist and Toxicologist for the FBI since 1994 and was employed in the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office in Missouri, before beginning his career with the FBI. He has a doctorate in toxicology from the University of Maryland – Baltimore, a master’s degree in forensic science from the University of New Haven (Connecticut), and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and criminal justice from Central Missouri State University. Marc is active in numerous scientific organizations in addition to TIAFT (current president). He is a Fellow of the American Board of Forensic Toxicology (ABFT) and a member of SOFT, serving as its President in 2012. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS). We are privileged to have Marc as our guest speaker for this meeting and he will be delivering 3 keynote lectures on relevant topics in our field.

Additionally, we are proud to have Dr. David Caldicott from the ACT present a keynote lecture on pill testing and how it saves lives – a very topical presentation which will inform us all about some of the initiatives to reduce/prevent deaths at Australian music festivals.

We will also be conducting our first live ToxPod session from the conference, discussing issues around emerging risks in toxicology – this will be live and uploaded through recognised media outlets and be hosted by Tim Scott and Peter Stockham.

The meeting will commence on Sunday 16th June with our opening Welcome Reception which will be held in the Atrium at the Intercontinental Hotel between 5:30-7:30pm; there is also a Conference Dinner planned for the evening of Tuesday 18th June. Adelaide of course is home to many world-famous vineyards, fine dining, spectacular beaches (a little cold in June) and amazing outback landscapes.

We look forward to engaging our members and sponsors - a prospectus is available to on the Sponsorship & Exhibition page as well as opportunities for vendor workshops. We have locked in an exclusive rate for FACTA delegates at the five-star conference hotel for $205/night.

If you would like any more information please contact any of the FACTA committee on secretary@facta.org.au. We look forward to seeing in you Adelaide!

Dr Dimitri Gerostamoulos
